The term guest posting is understood to mean publishing a post or article as a guest author on the blog or website of a third party organisation or individual.
For the guest author the practice of guest posting has several potential advantages:
– it may allow direct traffic to be generated through the links authorised on the article
– it constitutes a more or less effective personal branding action depending on the image and audience of the host blog or website.
– it contributes to the quality of natural referencing (SEO) if the authorised links (backlinks) are in dofollow and if the host site is considered by Google as a quality site with a good authority.
In the context of guest posting, the host often requires that the content is original and exclusive. For an author, guest posting is especially interesting if he or she does not have his or her own blog, if his or her own blog does not yet have the audience of the host blog or if the two audiences are distinct but complementary.
For the host, the practice of guest posting (generally referred to as guest blogging from his point of view) usually allows him to benefit from free content.
